In this training you will be tested on how to setup a forward operations base. This will include finding a good location, what type of defences to use in different situations, as well as how to set up an effective protective minefield. This training will be tested by a senior training instructor and can take up too 2 hours to complete.

Qualification prerequisites

To pass this checklisted training you cannot fail any of the major proficiencies. Failing any of them will will result in a failure. The examiner will explain why you failed these points and what you can do to pass them. The test can be retaken after a period of seven days. Only the points that led to the previous failure will be reassessed.

    • Load up container
    • Unload container
  • (MAJ) Know how to set up Assets
  • (MAJ) Know how to determine the best location for a defensive position
  • (MAJ) Understand the basic way to set up minefields
  • (MAJ) Understand the purpose of different mines
  • (MAJ) Know how to determine the best location for an FOB
  • (MAJ) Know how to set up an FOB, and the different ways to set up defences:
    • Square defence
    • Layered defence
    • Indepth defence
  • (MAJ) Know the key concepts of a resupply FOB
  • (MAJ) Know the key concepts of a Stagging point
  • (MAJ) Know the key concepts of a Reinforced FOB
